End Israel’s system of economic apartheid in Palestine

Often overlooked, Israel’s intentional system of economically fragmenting and dispossessing Palestinians is an essential part of its plan to ethnically cleanse the land and deny Palestinian liberation.

New nuclear power will be on the agenda when NY officials hold energy summit in Syracuse

NYSERDA plans to develop a roadmap for the potential deployment of new nuclear power, similar to the Offshore Wind Master Plan the authority crafted to guide development of that resource, Doreen Harris said. NYSERDA plans to gain expert feedback at the Syracuse summit to help prepare a policy for new nuclear power…

Inside Project 2025’s Secret Training Videos

One centerpiece of that program is dozens of never-before-published videos created for Project 2025’s Presidential Administration Academy. The vast majority of these videos — 23 in all, totaling more than 14 hours of content — were provided to ProPublica and Documented by a person who had access to them….

Trump has tried to distance himself from Project 2025, falsely saying that he knew nothing about it and had “no idea who is behind it.” In fact, he flew on a private jet with Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, which leads Project 2025. And in a 2022 speech at a Heritage Foundation event, Trump said, “This is a great group and they’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America.”

‘A different level than 2020’: Trump’s plan to steal election is taking shape

The RNC claims it is recruiting an army of 100,000 poll observers who could provide significant disruption during voting and counting.

In 2020, chaotic confrontations at polling sites offered misleading evidence that Trump and allies used in their effort to try to overturn the election. Trump’s effort to challenge the election results in Arizona, for example, was undergirded by affidavits from observers and poll watchers who falsely claimed they saw ballots being rejected because of the type of pen voters were using.

Why is NY’s Onondaga Nation School Crumbling?

New York State has underfunded the Indigenous school in central New York. Here’s why I’m part of the movement to change the status quo.

While nearly every school in New York State is funded through their school district, the three schools on Indigenous Nations are barred from this practice. These schools must make a direct plea to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) for their funding. Unlike every other public school, there is no funding formula that guarantees money for capital improvements.

Labor Union Makes ‘No Meaningful Progress’ with Micron, but Talks Continue

Micron is slated to receive more than $16 billion in federal taxpayer subsidies under the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act to build two chipmaking plans in the Onondaga County town of Clay. Micron agreed this spring to meet with the industrial division of the Communications Workers of America to discuss a “labor peace agreement,” which would require Micron to remain neutral and avoid interfering with union-organizing campaigns at the Clay plant.

Those talks aren’t going well, the union said. “CWA has been continuing discussions with Micron, but we have not made meaningful progress toward an enforceable labor peace agreement,” said Carl Kennebrew, president of IUE-CWA, in a statement. “However, we remain hopeful that Micron will see the benefit of taking a high-road approach and work with us to reach an agreement that fulfills the promise of the CHIPS Act to create good jobs that grow our local economies.”

Clean Affordable Reliable Energy for All!
Syracuse Rally/Press Conference

Thursday, August 15th at 11:00am

Outside of National Grid, 300 Erie Blvd. W., Syracuse

Stop National Grid from raising our bills!

National Grid is proposing a staggering 20% increase for gas and 15% increase for electric for Upstate customers. Your gas and electric bill could go up by 20 per month, or over $400 per year. This is simply unaffordable for so many Upstate families.

This proposed increase will disproportionately burden our most vulnerable communities while expanding our reliance on dirty fracked gas, worsening the climate crisis. Now, more than ever, we need to take a stand for affordable, renewable heating and cooling.

That’s why we’re fighting back. Organized by Alliance for a Green Economy, Citizen Action New York, Syracuse United Neighbors, and other CNY allies. Please join us! There will be signs for you to hold.

If you have questions, please reach out to aj@agreeny.org

SYRACUSE  STREET HEAT

Syracuse Street Heat is just one, very unencumbered way to work for peace and social justice. We’re part of a decades-long grassroots tradition here, in Ithaca and elsewhere. We stand out and stand up for what we stand for.

A handful of us stand at busy intersections, for 45 minutes at rush hour, pivoting to the traffic with hand-held signs. We want to get the public thinking about issues often underrepresented in the media. We’re there weekly in almost all of Syracuse’s weather (we seldom cancel). Bring your own sign – or use one of ours. No meetings or committees, so participation time is minimal (yay!) Our Team:  Ann, Dick, Ed, Geoff, Jim, Julienne, Les, Leslie, Peter….

To learn more, call Ann or Ed: (315) 478 4571.

FIRST & THIRD TUESDAYS OF THE MONTH…4 TO 4:45 P.M. (Killer Drones)

Across from the main gate of Hancock AFB, home of the 174th Attack Wing of the NYS National Guard  training Reaper drone operators. 6000 East Molloy Road.

EVERY FRIDAY…4 to 4:45 p.m. (“CEASE FIRE NOW”, etc./ Palestine solidarity)

A handful of us disperse along the sidewalk with our signs at the very busy intersection of Erie Blvd East and East Genesee St. (across from the DeWitt fire station; park in the nearby mini mall lot.)

EVERY  SATURDAY…9 to 9:45 a.m.

(range of issues: racism, Palestine solidarity  anti-war, anti-war, etc.)

Across from the Syracuse Regional Market, 2100 Park  St. at the 81N Liverpool/Park St. exit. Park in the Market lot on the north side of Park. You can use one of our signs or bring your own.
