Upcoming Meetings of CNY Solidarity Coalition:
Sunday, April 27 @ 3 PM
Tentative Agenda: Panel Discussion: SAVE Act, then Committee Breakouts
This year, the Republican majority in Congress has prioritized a piece of legislation that, if passed, would become the first voter suppression law enacted by that body in recent memory, and perhaps ever. That legislation is the SAVE Act, a bill that would disenfranchise millions of American citizens. Read about it.

Letters to the Editor
CNY Solidarity Coalition encourages letters to the editor regarding issues affecting us locally and nationwide.
If you’re looking for a subject to write about, here are this week’s suggestions:
-
How are the federal policy changes, cutbacks, and mass terminations affecting you and/or your family?
-
If you or someone you know is a veteran, what stories can they share?
-
Closer to home, County Executive Ryan McMahon is proposing to spend another $27 million of taxpayer money to buy and prepare land for supply chain companies. Onondaga County has already spent more than $30 million buying land for Micron. What do you think about this?
Guidelines for writing Letters to the Editor can be found here.

Harnessing Collective Power to Overcome Trump’s Fear Tactics

Noura Erakat: Trump’s Abuses & Mahmoud Khalil’s Arrest Are Products of U.S. Imperialism Coming Home
“… paying attention to Palestinians will allow you to understand what is coming. They have long been the canary in the coal mine, the Trojan horse for conservative agendas. They have been the experiment, the guinea pig for state repression. Steven Salaita was the first professor whose tenure was not denied, but revoked. Rasmea Odeh had her citizenship revoked — not her green card, her citizenship revoked. The Holy Land Foundation were subject to trials where they had secret evidence marshaled against them, a blatant violation of the Sixth Amendment. All of them, Palestinians.”

From Indivisible OC
What I learned at the Global Summit on Constitutionalism
Professors Scheppele and Aronson both emphasized that courts cannot save a democracy by themselves, and that popular mobilization has an important role to play. The legal work can buy us some time, but if we’re going to reclaim American democracy, it’s going to be the American people who do it.

Homelessness In CNY: Meeting The Rising Challenge
Friday, March 28, 12:05 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
FOCUS Forum from FOCUS Greater Syracuse
Homelessness is on the rise across the country and here in CNY, increasing locally more than 60% since 2019, meaning that nearly 1,200 people in our community find themselves unsheltered or in temporary settings on any given night.
Having a coordinated community response is more important than ever in the efforts to end homelessness.
Each community across the country has what is known as Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care of homelessness. The Housing & Homeless Coalition of Central New York (HHC) acts as the Continuum of Care for Central New York. The HHC organizes community resources, collects and analyzes data from community partners, and develops community-wide strategies to streamline the homelessness response system.
This FOCUS Forum will discuss how the HHC operates and is structured, report on the state of homelessness in our community, and how our community can rise to the growing challenges of homelessness and housing insecurity.

Tesla Takedown!
Saturday, March 29 at 12:00 pm
Fayetteville Tesla dealership, 5427 N. Burdick St., Fayetteville, NY
(FYI there are no sidewalks here)
DID YOU KNOW?
· Elon Musk is using his unelected political position to loot our government, demolish lifesaving services, and make himself richer.
· Musk and his cronies at DOGE have taken control of the Treasury, Social Security, and other departments with no governmental authority. He is baselessly firing thousands of federal workers, stealing private data, and gutting our essential infrastructure.
· Musk is a menace and he must be stopped.
WHY TARGET TESLA?
· Much of Musk’s inflated wealth is tied up in his stake in Tesla.
· A North American sales collapse would be a disaster for Tesla shareholders, starting with Musk himself, who owns around 13 percent of the company.
· Our protests are already damaging Tesla’s sales and reputation. Join us!
Let’s take back our democracy from billionaires.

Syracuse Street Heat is just one, very unencumbered way to work for peace and social justice. We’re part of a decades-long grassroots tradition here, in Ithaca and elsewhere. We stand out and stand up for what we stand for.
A handful of us stand at busy intersections, for 45 minutes at rush hour, pivoting to the traffic with hand-held signs. We want to get the public thinking about issues often underrepresented in the media. We’re there weekly in almost all of Syracuse’s weather (we seldom cancel). Bring your own sign – or use one of ours. No meetings or committees, so participation time is minimal (yay!) Our Team: Ann, Dick, Ed, Geoff, Jim, Julienne, Les, Leslie, Peter….
To learn more, call Ann or Ed: (315) 478 4571.
