Here is a request from one of our members: More people need to know about how the County is luring semiconductor facilities to this area at the expense of its residents. I think many have seen the recent article about this issue and Schumer’s work with McMahon but, as I said to Mark Weiner who wrote it, I believe any reporting needs to include the impact on the community.  Watch the video here

Moral March on Manchin and McConnell in Washington D.C.

Info/Signup HERE

What is happening in state legislatures across the country in terms of passing voting restrictions
is threatening our democracy. What extremists are doing in state legislatures is hurting us all. There has been a clarion call coming out of West Virginia, Kentucky and all across the nation. This democracy is not only worth fighting for, but that the people are rising up to defend it. Join us on June 23rd as we stand against voter suppression, the filibuster, and political retrogression.
Poor and low wealth people of all races must stand up. This fight is not just about race. Suppressing the vote hurts Black, white, brown, Indigenous, Asian, disabled, young, poor and low wealth people. Voter suppression allows people to get elected who block living wages, health care, immigrant and LGBTQIA rights. Suppressing the vote is constitutionally inconsistent, morally indefensible, politically unacceptable, and economically insane.
This is why we’re asking you Join the West Virginia and Kentucky Poor People’s Campaigns in Washington DC on Wednesday, June 23rd at 1pm for a Moral March on Manchin and McConnell. West Virginians and Kentuckians have issued the call, and will be joined by other states, representing people of all colors, creeds, religions, and backgrounds for a March on Manchin and McConnell to demonstrate our power to stop voter suppression and the filibuster, and continue to demand the protection and expansion of voting rights, the raising of wages to at least $15/hour, the extension of unemployment benefits, the expansion of health care, indigenous rights, and infrastructure development that lifts from the bottom.

FiliBUSTED Day of Action

FiliBUSTED Day of Action

We are at a pivotal moment for our democracy. Politicians in state legislatures across the country are passing undemocratic bills designed to make it harder for people to vote, and they’re specifically targeting Black and brown communities. That’s why it’s critical that we pass the For the People Act (S.1.).

But despite overwhelming public support of the For the People Act, the Senate is at a stand still, because the filibuster is preventing legislation like S.1. from passing!

That’s why on Thursday, June 24 we’ll be hosting a People’s Filibuster to demand the passage of the For the People Act and that our Senators address the outdated, undemocratic filibuster.

Join us virtually or in DC for one of several important events happening throughout the day!

Deadline for Democracy Rally

Hanley Federal Building, 100 S. Clinton St., Syracuse, NY 13261

It’s a make-or-break moment for S.1, the For the People Act. Join us as we call on Senate Majority Leader Schumer to do everything in his power to enact this crucial package of democracy reforms. Republican state legislatures are attacking voting rights; we need Congress to fight back.
