Next Meeting: Stop the Aquarium, Fund Human Needs

We will have speakers on how to use county funds for actual needs and how we can make sure that happens.

CNY Solidarity Coalition shares the radical belief that government must serve the needs of the people.
We are now at a crucial point with our Onondaga County government – will we spend enormous funds on a poorly thought-out aquarium proposal, or will the county consider the actual needs of county residents?
We are inviting community groups to participate in this special meeting about the aquarium proposal.
The purpose of this meeting is to help us understand the following:
· the weaknesses in the current aquarium proposal
· some urgent needs in the county that must be addressed
· how we can convince county government to meet those needs
We will have speakers addressing these points, time for discussion, and specific recommendations for next steps.
Following the meeting, about 4:30, for those interested: a planning session to finalize a proposed action for July 5, to reach the County Legislature.

From Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny: Please help spread the word about Early Voting and the June 28th primary. As you know this reform was hard fought for and in Onondaga County we have expanded Early Voting thanks to action of the NYS legislature. This reform remains under attack from the GOP through funding cuts and fighting over site placements. We need to show that We are still enthused about this reform and will show up in growing numbers to demand it be properly staffed and available.
The good news is that (June 18) was the first day of Early Voting for the June 28th primary, and it was the largest day for a primary in Onondaga County Early Voting history with 322 voters checking in at the 8 polling sites. The bad news is people are confused about who can vote and what races are eligible.
I need your help. Please consider posting a few times on social media over the next 9 days to promote Early Voting and the June 28th primary. If you Early Vote take pictures and encourage people to go to onvote.net to get information, or post some of the information directly. Word of mouth is still the best way to raise awareness. Doing so now, and in August, and November will help voters know their options and ultimately lead to higher turnout.

Wondering how we can respond to the war in Ukraine? Do you have ideas for action? Don’t be alone.
The mainstream media and our government would have us believe that the only response to the crisis is to arm Ukraine and devastate Russia. The risks of this approach are great, up to and including nuclear war.
This discussion series will use alternative online video resources featuring experts and peace activists to to better understand the conflict, stimulate dialogue, and create action steps for how to respond.
Discussion will be moderated with Individual comments limited to 3 minutes.
