Our plan for the winter months, dependent on health warnings:
· We will schedule one in-person meeting per month.
· An additional Zoom meeting each month will likely be scheduled, depending on issues.
· Meetings will start at 2 PM, followed by in-person Committee Meetings
· In case of inclement weather or other issues, a notification and a Zoom link will be sent no later than 10 AM on the day of the meeting.
· Please wear a mask, and practice reasonable social distancing.

2022 was easily the hardest year that I have experienced as an Election Commissioner….Redistricting and the legal challenges that were brought in New York State dominated our electoral landscape. It changed districts, added elections, and generally sowed chaos into our electoral landscape. In addition, local Syracuse and Onondaga County redistricting added new wrinkles to a challenging mid term cycle. Read it Here

New York is about to get a new Chief Judge. For the next 14 years, this judge will lead the Court of Appeals—New York’s highest court—and the entire state court system.
Gov. Hochul nominated Justice Hector LaSalle despite significant alarm raised by unions, reproductive rights organizations, Senators, and other New Yorkers concerned about Justice LaSalle’s record. Justice LaSalle’s deeply conservative judicial record includes decisions that are anti-abortion, anti-union, and anti-due process. His decisions make clear that his judicial philosophy is wrong for New York, and that, if confirmed as Chief Judge, he would be a continuation of former Chief Judge DiFiore’s right-wing Court of Appeals.
Use this tool to call on your senator and Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins to reject Justice LaSalle’s nomination and demand a Chief Judge nominee who will protect the rights of workers, tenants, women, incarcerated people, and all New Yorkers.
We Need To Hold The Supreme Court Accountable
The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land. They hand down decisions that affect the entire country for generations. They should be held to the highest level of ethical conduct. Except there’s no established code of conduct that these lifetime appointed justices can be held to. Right now, the nine members of the Supreme Court are the only federal judges in the United States that don’t have a code of ethics they’re meant to follow.
No one is above the law—even the Supreme Court. It’s up to us to demand accountability.

Our Freedoms, Our Vote January 6 Rally

Weeks after voters widely repudiated the most prominent election deniers at the polls driven by deep concern over the state of democracy, people across the U.S. will rally in observance of the two-year mark since the attack on the U.S. Capitol to prevent a peaceful transfer of power.
Events will take place at the Capitol and nationwide to push for accountability to prevent future power grabs by former U.S. President Donald Trump and his allies, and to tell elected leaders to act on a mandate for democracy reforms to protect our freedom to vote, including those mentioned in the new report from the January 6th Select Committee, as well as D.C. Statehood, which would secure representation for D.C. residents, who were most directly affected by the Capitol attack.to protect our freedom to vote.
The event comes as Trump and extreme Republican politicians continue to spread false claims about the 2020 election results and undermine our Constitution, and prepare to launch a sham investigation into the January 6 committee so that they can stay in power to push their unpopular agenda: to destroy reproductive rights, steal our social security and our Medicare, and stop our ability to access affordable higher education, address the climate crisis, or prevent gun violence, among others.
