Part One was about Youth Leadership, Workforce & Equity in Urban Forestry with Onondaga Earth Corps 

Part Two was about Micron:  the federal application process of the CHIPS Act and the benefits of a Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) with IUE-CWA & Jobs to Move America.

Hundreds of organizations around the state are fighting to pass the NY HEAT Act. This bill is critical for getting our state started on the transition off fracked gas and for ensuring energy affordability for every New Yorker.

We need 100s of constituents of Assemblymember Pamela Hunter and Assemblymember Bill Magnarelli to call their offices from now through Thursday March 28.

I’m asking Assemblymember ______ to fight for the inclusion of the full NY HEAT Act in the budget. New Yorkers deserve cleaner heat and lower bills.”

A member of our community, Judy Jerome, has been passed over for a seat on the Onondaga County Library Board of Trustees which she applied for in October of 2023. Judy is a highly-qualified candidate for this board. She is a retired librarian, a Fullbright Scholar, former president of the New York Library Association and more. 

What is very concerning is one of the appointments the County Executive wants to make to the Library Board of Trustees is Esteban Gonzalez. Esteban ran for Sheriff in 2022 and lost, yet Ryan McMahon hired him for a specially created position for $105,000 paid for by federal pandemic funds. 

Why is Onondaga County overlooking someone with extensive experience, an interest in public service and volunteering for their community in this way. Libraries and books are under threat in our community, we need people like Judy Jerome on our Onondaga County Library Board of Trustees! 

Email the Onondaga County Legislature at onondagacountylegislature@ongov.net and show up at the next legislative session on April 2 at 12:30pm to make a public comment supporting Judy and qualified candidates on county boards, not political appointments.

The US has provided diplomatic cover for Israel in the UN for many decades and here our government has abstained rather than vetoing another resolution. It’s a sign that the concerted grassroots organizing across the country is having an important impact. A handful of us stand at busy intersections, for 45 minutes at rush hour, pivoting to the traffic with hand-held signs. We want to get the public thinking about issues often underrepresented in the media. We’re there weekly in almost all of Syracuse’s weather (we seldom cancel).
